CADET FAN-tastic....Mr. Paul Reynolds (Class of 1967)!!!

Last Friday night's game was thrilling on so many levels, it would take me hours to list them all. From the exhilerating satisfaction of watching our Cadets snap that 3 game losing streak we had been brutalized by to rocking to the jazz band which so many of us wish would come to more/all of the games, the Vianney game provided us all with a little something we could enjoy.

In addition to all of the simple pleasures we typically enjoy during home games, the Vianney game came with an additional, unexpected surprise....Mr. Paul Reynolds, our Week 5 CADET FAN-tastic Fan of the Week and the rest of the CBC alumni from the class of 1967.

Sitting as I typically do, in front of the press box right on the 50 yard line, I have had the opportunity to interact with many alumni classes over the past three and a half years as they are usually seated in the reserved seating rows immediately in front of the area in which I sit. Though most of the alumni are nice enough, it is typically a polite, almost perfunctory "niceness" that though I am sure is sincere, doesn't always feel all that enthusiastic. So imagine my surprise, (as well as the surprise of other junior and senior Cadet parents) when the boisterous, extroverted class of '67 and their guests took their seats in front of us and joined right in with us as we cheered like the teenagers we were 20, 30, 40, or so years ago. This was UNHEARD of in previous alumni classes, and we were all pleasantly surprised and welcomed these Cadets back into the fold like relatives reconnecting at a family reunion!!

Junior Cadet Mom Tracy Kelly had purchased purple and gold hair extensions with the intention of having Cadet Moms wear them in a show of solidarity with our team. As she stood in the stands offering her wares, one particularly fun-loving Cadet of yesteryear, Mr. Paul Reynolds took one of the extensions and without hesitation placed it upon his own head! He followed this surprising move with an even more shocking one as he took up the Mom-provided Pom Pons [dreaded by men everywhere] and promptly began to shake them like he just didn't care! This kindred spirit of truly vocal fans everywhere even went so far as to chastise the two loudest mouths in the stands (Ann Luberda and myself Sharon Jenkins) for not cheering with enough bodaciousness and consistency. To say the least, I was stopped in my tracks....but how could I possibly argue with a fan of this magnitude? I had to admit that he definitely demonstrated that he knows the world of "fan-dom" as well or better than any of us, so instead of trying to defend ourselves, Ann and I stepped up our game. Like the saying goes, "If you can't beat'em...."

The class of '67 in my opinion is the best alumni class ever to share the stands with us. To me, they are CBC Family, and to each and every one of you who might ever read this, "You are welcome to shake a Pom Pon next to me anytime!" To the fantabulous Mr. Paul Reynolds, "You are more than likely the coolest Cadet EVER!"

Our last home game is October 19th, and we'd love to have you join us again!!!
